Alison Rose Bartlett

My artwork is highly influenced by nostalgia, characters, and pop culture. I find the connection of familiar images of the past can be a great connector for conversation, so I look to incorporate that into all my work. Even if you don’t remember much about the movie, you may remember passing by the box at your local video store countless Friday nights. So playing with these familiar images is a way to connect myself to that nostalgia, while also creating connections to modern day images and characters.
A degree in fashion design helped to grow my interest to explore textiles and design. Today, I use sequins, glitter, rhinestones, sand, textiles, and illustration in my work, marrying my love for more traditionally used textile design embellishments combined with traditional art techniques.
My hope is that my work sparks a conversation for folks to share a story about a fond memory around a movie or character they love.
